While with the magazine, the page editors need to follow the design layouts I created, the newspaper is an opportunity for page editors to have creative freedom. During deadline night, I walk around to help people find tools on Indesign and correct designs or suggest improvements. After that, I take the weekend to fix errors. Sometimes I do have to remake a whole page.

While I like to give my staff many opportunities to design, I take the center spread for myself. I decided to make the little student graphics in an Ah ha moment when I was deciding what to do with the empty spaces. I make sure to designate a dominate photo to tell readers where to go first.

The fashion page was originally given to someone else but as sometimes happens, the page editor fell through and was unable to design the page. This one was difficult for me because of how much content there was. It was a lot of placing photos, choosing a dominate, then moving them around until it looked right, then hoping the captions fit.
