Breaking News

The website budget is very similar to the instagram budget. We try to post on the instagram Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and post on the website Tuesdays and Thursdays. Usually staff members will write profiles, reviews, columns or thoughts on national sports.

When I first became Editor in Chief, I wrote stories for the website almost weekly to update students about school related news. I attended many school board meetings. While the journalism program has established ourselves firmly in our school as a place of storytelling and a place to come to with questions about school issues, the next step is to be a place people go to for news, a reliable source of information about events like school cancelations, fights or flooding. Im currently working on a story to be published on the 14th regarding two extreme fights leading to multiple students arrests after school on the 11th in order to work towards this goal and provide students with necessary information.

I had a lot of fun making this quiz my sophomore year. It showed me how much fun journalism can be! While this quiz is for entertainment, it also allowed students to get to know some of the teachers. I had another staff member make one about english teachers the next year. Now its a tradition!

Occasionally we use video for news, but unfortunately it is not yet a main tool. I made this video during quarantine, talking to seniors about their feelings on the cancelation of senior events.

Here I link to a video compilation I made of students and teachers congratulating Erriyon Knighton on his Olympic debut.
