The Lee Gazette
I served as the layout artist for the monthly student newspaper at my old elementary school during the 2020-2021 school year
This was the most fun and cutest volunteer activity I have ever done. The articles were so adorable! Most of the time, the students provided visuals to go with their story from the internet, but I decided that a graphic would go better with most of them, and it was good Illustrator practice for me.

My first job was to make the folio at the start of the newspaper. I used Adobe Illustrator to make the cupola found on the top of the school. I also had to choose fonts I thought looked appealing to elementary schoolers, and a size big enough to make it easier to read and small enough to keep the story lengths from looking daunting. Then, I looked over the stories and made graphics to go along with them. Next, I decided what stories should go on the front page, and which ones (usually the longer ones) would go better in the middle. Usually, each edition took me about five hours all together.
